Turtle Foundation is an international charitable organization. We are a dedicated volunteer effort and currently are operating our own important protection projects in Cape Verde and in Indonesia. In 2008, responding to the brutal sloughtering of loggerhead turtle females on Boavista’s beaches, Turtle Foundation sent personnel to Boavista to establish a monitoring presence on one of the main nesting beaches. By continuously expanding the protection program to additional nesting beaches – by now 5 nesting beaches with a length of nearly 30 kilometers are being protected – we have reduced the number of sea turtles killed on Boavista year after year. The nesting beaches are being patrolled and protected by Turtle Foundation with support of volunteers from around the world and local rangers. In addition a data collection program and turtle tagging program has been initiated. OUR VISION: A future where sea turtles and their habitats are sustainably protected, healthy, and safe from threat of extinction and destruction. OUR MISSION: To contribute to sea turtle conservation at our own project sites by cooperating with local communities to create a future where both sea turtles and people can thrive.
