Description:The Underwater Explorers Program Instructor will be responsible for delivering Underwater Explorers programs to the public on our outside deck and in the Great Tide Pool. They are the primary response for water safety and rescue of participants while teaching children ages 8-13 about the natural history of our tide pools and ocean. They will introduce participants to the use of specialized SCUBA gear; lead them on surface dives in the Great Tide Pool and serve as in-water interpreter of its habitats and animals. They are also responsible for daily support for Husbandry maintenance of the Great Tide Pool exhibit, as well as minor repair of selected Underwater Explorers equipment.Must meet the following criteria: Must have nationally recognized Open Water certification with 20 cold-water dives; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Effective interpersonal skills for dealing with staff, visitors and children; Basic knowledge of the local marine species and environments; In water supervisory skills; Ability to effectively deliver educational material; Must have own cold-water skin diving equipment (wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins, gloves, booties). Must be available June 4, 2007 through Sept 5, 2007.
